Hi everyone.... Thought I was the only person addicted to pinesol but surprise surprise I'm not. I just want to know of it's bad that I LOVE sniffing pinesol every chance I get ... It started as just using it once in a while but now I buy the big bottles and have one in my room , restroom, kitchen, laundry room just to have it at all the times... I even chew/bite ice while sniffing it to have the sensation or feeling like im eating it... I just can't seem to stop [frown] and I recently found out Im pregnant but as much as I try to stop I just can't .

I'm glad that you'd posted.  It is crucial for you to get immediate professional treatment, especially since you'd found out that you're pregnant (and Congrats).  Please ask your ob/gyn to send you for some blood work to test for iron deficiency anemia.  Some people who have a craving for non-food items may have a mineral deficiency, which may include iron deficiency.

Please, however, do *not* start taking iron pills until *after* both getting the blood test and the ob/gyn recommending them as too much iron in the blood may result in liver (the largest internal organ) or kidney damage.

Please look into getting some counseling for the addiction issues.  There may be some programs for those who are pregnant, too.  It's vital that you get some outside professional help as inhaling (and/or ingesting) the fumes or chemical vapors may cause congenital birth defects of the baby, which may actually include mental retardation.  Please do *not* delay and start making healthy choices for both you and Baby.

This website may have some local counseling and treatment programs:

http://findtreatment.samhsa.gov/ and can type one's zip code or state of residence into search.  The results should appear on the right-hand side of the page under the category of "facility listing information."

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a free 12-step peer support program for those who would like to get sober.  One may attend an "open" AA meeting if there is no drinking problem.  There are AA meetings throughout the U.S. and around the globe.

To search for a local AA meeting:
