Hi. My daughter is 22 and can not quit doing duster. She's going to end up dead. I have been fighting this hard core for 4 years. I'm wondering if it is fixable? Are all these posts I've read from 2014? Thanks I'm just needing some help. Her addiction has caused so much stress in my own life. I'm feeling pretty hopeless. But I don't want to lose her!!

You will lose her if it continues. I'm fighting it myself and I have almost died several times. I have blanked out and hit the floor so hard I gave my face rug burns.

If you don't die, you will get brain damage. An intervention might be needed because this stuff is nasty. You get addicted to it, not physically but mentally.

Right now this board is pretty dead and spammers took over a lot of it.

Get in touch with me if you want resources.

Hi, I lost my spouse to him being addicted to huffing on computer duster 14 months and 4 days ago.
He didn't believe it would kill him. It did.
So maybe your daughter can talk to someone that actually knows how her life can end up if she doesn't stop.
It's not a question of if it will kill her, it's more like when if she doesn't stop now.
I'm very very sorry you have to go through this. I battled addiction with him for 6 years, I tried my best to help him, but he was heavily addicted.

You can email me if you would like to communicate further.

Thanks for responding. What resources are out there? We live in Kansas. Treatment places don't understand it? It's a very crazy addition. As long as she's with me she fine. As soon as she gets her car back to drive herself to work she ends up in Walmart parking lot. Then I have to go look for her. Drag her to my house and take the car away. A few weeks ago she got picked up by police in Walmart parking lot. They just let her go. No charges thank God! The next day she crashed her car into a fence because she passed out. She got inattentive driving ticket. The following day me and my son found her in the same Walmart parking lot doing it again. I took her car away for 3 days I had to leave state so I gave her car back so she could get to work. 2 days later she was found passed out behind the wheel waiting on a train. The train passed she was still passed out. The law got called. It was the same cop that found her hitting the fence. There was 20 plus empty duster cans in her car. The small town cop thinks she has a medical condition. She plays right along with it. I have taken her car again. And all access she has to her money. Which I do every time. I couldnt figure out where she was getting money for it. She was stealing from Walmart and returning stuff to get a gift card to buy it. Walmarts is running g a special buy 3 cans get the 4th free!! 12$ for 4 cans. It's such a nightmare. In all actuality she almost ruined her whole life in a week and a half! Now I have her car. And money I get up and drive to her house in the morning 15 miles I'm there at 530am then drive her 20 miles to work then come 13 miles home. Pick her up at 2. I guess I haven't mentioned she has a 3 year old son! He's why I keep doing this. I'm trying to get gaurdion ship of him. I have 4 other kids. 2 are grown and 2 are in there teens. Everyone is tired of watching me case her around. Not to mention my husband of 18 years is ready to leave me. I can't not worry about her. I've yelled at her I've talked nice to her. I've tried everything!!!! 4 long years..... Once shes clean for a few hours she acts like nothing happened. That's she's fine normal and living her own life! This is the only thing she has a problem with! She doesn't drink or any other drugs it's just this wonderful duster! I am hoping they change it soon so it doesn't get u high. Hopefully before I loose my daughter! Thanks for letting me vent here... My family just thinks I'm crazy for chasing her!

There are various rehab programs available, but some of them can be costly. At the very least though, this is something that at this stage requires medical intervention. I've never progressed to using it while operating a motor vehicle and that's a sure path towards a quick death.

Basically the way this stuff works is by cutting off oxygen to the brain. There's no real safe dose for it. Other drugs like pot and salvia are fairly tame, but this stuff can make you brain-dead or end up in a wheel-chair.

I'm sure other people posted pics of some of the damage and stories, but like I said, there was a spam attack recently.

I am sorry for you loss. We just lost our brother to duster last weekend. It is an addiction like no other and we tried to stop him. He went through two treatment centers and ended there a model patient, but this still killed him. It seems to have a grip on their mind like no other. If you are interested in trying to get stiffer laws with the selling of this deadly substance please contact me. My brother and I are very interested in keeping this horrible substance from killing more people. It is so horrible how easily it is obtained and in mass quantities. This has to stop. Before it takes more lives.

Kellylyn I am so so sorry. I know right now words won't help, I can't even imagine your pain with it being your bab. know in your heart you were doing everything you could. Grieve for your loss but never allow yourself the guilt because you were there for her. I hope your grandbaby is OK and I'm so sorry he had to lose him mommy this way.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother! This is the strongest drug I have ever seen! Today is 4 months since my daughter passed. It is still unbelievable to me. I do have my grandson. He says he sure does muss his mom. About every day! Every sad. I have been emailing Dr Phil, dateline and 20/20. I email at least once a week asking if they will do a show to draw more attention to it and the lack of laws for buying it. This is the only thing I know to do? If you would email them also and tell them your story. Maybe in numbers they will listen! I am interested in anything I can do to draw attention to this evil drug!

I have a problem with duster and when I was found passed out in my car at a Walmart parking lot, the cops took me to the hospital where I finally admitted that I was sad, felt hopeless, and that’s why I was using duster. They suggested that I start going to group therapy and individual therapy. They gave me a referral and I started going. So far that’s what has kept me in check - and the Lord Jesus Christ! For me it was more than just getting high, I was hurting inside. I hope the best for your daughter and pray that things work out❤️
