I have a friend who likes too inhale from duster cans, and i tell him he should stop because it can harm his lungs, but so far it doesnt seem too do any harm at all.

What are some long term affects i can warn him about soo he can stop now, and not have problems in the future?

Dani,

This is my first time on this site, I had never heard of huffing until yesterday when I got a call that my brother had died.

You can tell your friend that my family is now experiencing the most long term effect that a person can have.

Good luck, I will be praying for you and your friend.

Dear Nick P and Dani,

My heart is crying for Nick and his family.  I was in that same situation six years ago when we got the phone call that our son had died from inhalant abuse.

I read this message board periodically and my heart breaks over and over again.  How can we get the message out there that inhalants can and will kill?

I just finished reading the book "Beautiful Boy" by David Sheff.  A powerful true life account of a dad dealing with his son's meth addiction.  What makes some kids more prone to addictions than others?  What makes/attracts kids (and adults) to try inhalants?  Why do people continue to abuse even when they know it could kill them?

I did not know to warn our children about inhalant abuse.  I would like to think that if I had warned them, that our Justin would be here today.

I cheer and pray for each person who writes on this post about their addiction, and quietly grieve for those who have stopped posting and wonder, have they beat their addiction or did they die?

Parents: please talk to your kids.  Kids: please let your parents or some trusted adult help you.
