Hello. I am a 14-year-old girl and I am addicted to sniffing Pine-Sol. My mom makes fun of me for it. I usually sniff it every day a few times. After reading many articles, I now realize how fatal it is. My mouth waters every time I think about it. I do not chew ice while sniffing it, but I'll just sit there and sniff it for a minute or two. It is so hard to walk away from it. I know that since I'm young I'll be able to break the habit but this has been going on for about 4-5 months. I do not carry bottles of it, clean with it every day, or do any other bizarre behaviors. My parents would not allow me to clean with it every day. I'd say I mop the floors with it every week or so. But I sniff about every day. I think my parents are just happy I'm cleaning the house. My mom jokes around with me about sniffing Pine-Sol but I do not think she knows I do it every day. I am so glad I'm not alone. Huge relief! I think I just need to be scared enough to the point where I don't even want to look at it. Help anyone? I'm positive I'll break the habit. Probably just a silly phase.[biggrin]

I totally had an addiction to pine Sol when I was pregnant! Needless to say, I had the cleanest house on the block! However, I had to have Juicy Fruit gum with it. My husband even bribed me with Juicy Fruit for sex!!!!

You love the smell because you are addicted to the solvents in the cleaner. This is an inhalant addiction and causes permanent brain damage that starts within months or even weeks of "sniffing." People die from this habit. Please seek help and stop using. If you have children, they can become addicted because of your constant use of these products. Any counselor, therapist, social worker or addictions treatment center can help you, or talk to your doctor about it. Please get help.

Hi Sydney, this is not a silly phase, this is a dangerous addiction. You are addicted to the solvents in the pine cleaner and that's why you crave it. Inhaling solvents can cause permanent brain damage after just a few months or even weeks. People die from this addiction. Please seek help to stop sniffing. You can talk to a school counselor, a social worker, or any therapist, or your medical doctor. You can receive help at any addiction center or call a substance abuse hot line in your area. You could also tell your parents that you have a problem and need help to stop. Please take this seriously and get help now, before it gets even more out of control.

I love Original Scent Pine Sol. My earliest memories of it was my mother mopping the floors with it mixed with hot water. Omg!!! I love it and Im not sure why. But anyway...for me the addiction started when I was pregnant with my 1st child in 1999. I was in the army and me and my ex husband got our 1st apartment together. I was so excited to buy it and clean with it. I was already an OCD clean freak and Pine Sol was my fav cleaner. Something about the smell did something to me physically...I can't explain it. I craved it and when I smelled it...it drove me crazy. I only sniffed it a handful of times purposely...like actually sat with a cup of it and sniffed it. Knowing I was pregnant I stopped doing that but instead I cleaned anything...everything with it...every chance I'd get. Totally obsessed. I would fill my kitchen sink with hot water and pour Pine Sol in it while the hot water was running and leave it in the sink just to have the scent of it in the house. Id change it daily and use the mixture throughout the day to wipe down counters and appliances. I experimented with it and would put it in potpourri pots. Let it heat up and simmer. I also bought a small pot just for boiling it. I would and still to this day...boil it with a lil bit of water. And when the Original Scent went away...I got so depressed. I couldn't believe they did that. The replacement scent was terrible and couldnt compare. Im also and more so addicted to the army version of pine oil. Its so much stronger and I abesolutly love it!!! ❤❤❤ I have to have them both or else I'd go crazy. I use an empty water bottle and I fill it up about 1/4th of the way and I keep it on my bedside table under my lamp. It forms condensation from the heat and makes it stronger in my opinion. When I go to relax at the end of my day I sit with my bottle and sniff away. The water bottle is a perfect size. I shake it up with the cap on then take off the cap and wipe off the rim and put one side of my nose over the opening and sniff...holding the other nostril closed. And then I alternate. I sniff it to the point where the strength of the scent lessens. Then I pour the pine oil in a drain and fill it with more fresh oil. Ive even poured some on the bottom of my shower while I was in it to get that mixture of hot water with the pine oil. The combination of the 2 along with the heat in the shower is amazing. Ive even microwaved it to heat it up and make the scent stronger. All the ppl in my life closest to me know that I'm addicted but not to the extent that I'm confessing today. Needless to say at this point in my life...I dont personally have a problem with my addiction although I know its bad and wrong....its like aromatherapy to me. I abesolutly love it.

Is anyone else in love with fabuloso's fresh scent? Or Irish Spring? Am I alone or does anyone else love the smell of a cold old basement? What about gasoline? Or second-hand smoke(I grew up around smokers, so the second-hand smoke brings back memories, same with the smell of good ol' white chalk)? Am I just crazy??
