As everyone has probly already noticed i love the smell of these little white balls. i stopped sniffing these things in november when i found out it was damaging my insides and until yesterday i was clean.i broke down and went to the store and got 2 boxes <IMG border=0 align=absMiddle src="http://messageboard.inhalant.org/images/boards/smilies/frown.gif">. I havent sniffed them like i use to crushing 3 or 2 in a sock and smelling for long periods of time ive been pretty good. im still disappointed however that i bought them idk what it is about the smell of these things that makes me crave them so bad i just do. i think i might even crush all off the 2 boxes in my housse sprinkle them around the carpet and vacume them up is that still considerd sniffing? does anyone else feel the same way about mothballs/moth ice crystals?? I absolutly love the smell of it but would never try chewing them.

Hey mothball:-)
Back-sliding can happen to anyone with an addiction and the important thing to remember is it is NOT defeat, only a slip up. There is a reason it is called, 'addiction' and usually only those who have similar addictions will understand. A support system is soooo important when you start feeling like using again, as they can assist in talking you down before you get to the point of purchase. You asked about crushing up the mothballs and spreading them on the carpet. You know as well as I that the only answer is to get them out of the house and away from you. Otherwise you are still trying to feed your habit.
You have been such a great supporter here and I am confident that you will make the right decision. Walk away from it, stay strong and post here often. We all need your strength here and I am sure your strengths are needed off the net as well! Post back soon, my friend~

Keylen,
They are white balls that they use to keep moths from eating your clothes. They are very strong smelling.  NOT at all meant for sniffing. Hope you are doing well with your conseling. Havent heard from you in awhile  take care and keep up the good work....

Solarwind- thank u so much for the support. Ive just been taking it day by day trying to stay busy. Ive sniffed the mothballs i got after i had a breakdown. Its weird school was stressing me out and i figured the only thing that would calm me down would be mothballs. i actually did break them down and sniff them in a sock which is very terrible but it calmed me down. I did give the remaining box and a half to my mother and told her to keep them with her. She knows i love the smell of them but doesnt know how bad my addiction to them was. I have no idea why i love the smell of para mothballs i just do. i think they smell fresh and love love love the smell of them when they are first crushed. Ive decided to slowly stop sniffing them instead of going cold turkey, if i do that i feel i would go back immediatly. since they die down over time i think im going to keep the couple i have left and let them die down and dissappear while i still smell them, I figure this way will be easier and hopefully itll be for good.

keylen- this is what mothballs looks like

they are to keep moths away from eating cloths and have a toxic smell which i happen to be obsessed with.

Mothball-
It takes a lot of courage to continually share your struggle.

What kind of stuff have you been doing to stay busy? Sometimes addiction relapses because a person needs a stresses reliever. In the absence of anything new, a person can revert to addictive behavior. It may be helpful to get involved with group activity (e.g. a sports team) that provides regular contact with others and helps release stress.

Also, SAMHSA has great resources as well as a national substance abuse facility locator to find more help in your area.

Like Solarwind said, a slip up does not mean defeat. Trying to connect with others is always a great help.

Mothball, thanks for the updates. It seems like things could be going better than they are. Were you able to find professional support from links I posted or get help from family?

im actually really ashamed to tell my family i mean my mom knows i like the smell she just doesnt know its this bad well was really bad its ok now. she actually is sick her self not addicted to anything like that but shes been ill for awhile. i havent looked at the links so far yet i just keep tryna keep busy but then find myself grabbing that sock for a little to smell. the crushed up mothballs i have in the sock is actually to strong now so i just crush one up and sprink them over some of my balled up socks in my drawer wait a little and smell the sock wen the mothball pieces are gone. since i like the smell of them wen first crushed i also take the old crushed ones in my sock and empty it in a zip lock bag. so pretty much its like mothball powerder in a ziplock. i dont sniff it or anything i just use that and sprink it places. idk i have a real problem but am going to quit soon because i actually got a bladder infection and sniffing moth balls damages your kidneys so thats no help at all to me to be sniffing. thanks for listening whoevers reading it feels better to get this out.

mothball- Thanks for sharing. Just think if it "feels better to get this out" to strangers, just think what it would be like to tell family members and friends. People who know you and will support you no matter what. Of course it will be much harder to let them know versus us, but please consider.

Very glad to hear you will be quitting soon.  It will not be easy, but you will be healthier in the long run. Hopefully, with support from your family/friends and us on this message board you will be able to take baby steps and form healthier habits.

Keep us posted on your progress.

i dissagree. letting it out to strangers is way easyer then telling people you know. but if you need the support then you should just tell one person, and once you tell one its easyer to tell others.
