You're certainly not a fiend by engaging in huffing but you may have an addiction to inhalant use, and there is a lot of help out there for those that would like to get sober.  When a person inhales the chemicals used for huffing, that individual is at a huge risk for brain tissue loss, seizures, limb spasms, bone marrow (fatty inner lining of the bones that makes blood cells) damage, hearing loss, other organ damage such as to the heart/liver/kidneys and even death even after first time of use.

Please talk with a licensed counselor about the inhalant use.  To search for counseling (including outpatient counseling) and treatment programs including medical detox facilities (and some programs may have state and/or county funding for those without health insurance):  http://dasis3.samhsa.gov/

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) has free 12-step support groups all throughout the nation and around the world.  The only requirement is wanting to get sober:  http://www.na.org  The person may also seek to get a sponser which acts like a mentor, someone who has been through the 12 step process and has been 'in recovery'.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA):  http://www.aa.org and one may attend an "open" meeting if doesn't drink.

You can definitely get well, and I (and everyone here) am hoping that you take the next step and talk with a licensed professional, or at least attend an NA or AA meeting.  One of the mottos of the 12-step programs is "One day at a time" which means that the addict will work on remaining sober each day as it comes so that the thought of sobriety doesn't sound nearly as overwhelming.  Another motto of those support groups is "People, places and things" which refers to the addict being mindful of the 'people' that he/she is surrounding oneself with, the 'places' that one goes to such as Not going to a hardware store or Not going down the store aisle of air freshener, cleaning supplies or automobile products (unless having a store list of necessary items Before going to the store) and the 'things' that one does with his/her time such as productive activities, for example, reading, going for a walk, journaling, calling a 12-step sponser/mentor, taking a class or such.

Please take good care of yourself, become your own best friend, and make good choices.  Be well.

OK has anyone sniffed amonia, I am a rubbing alohol addict and lately I have found that I crave the smell of amonia, to the point I grab the bottle and smell. I have tried iron, nothing works and again I have not told anybody about this because it is too damn embarrassing. I need help, I enjoy it and hate it at the same time.

Okay so I was in google mode about sniffing pinesol because I have always felt crazy about craving it but I to have read the label and noticed nothing about sniffing was harmful @ first I couldnt stand it but with each day I was sniffing sooooo much that I have put it on tissue & put it directly into my nose to sniff myself to sleep it does nothing for me it doesnt make me hiper or calm me down so why do i continue to smell it I only take a break after it gets onto the skin around my nose and makes it chapped

redkinggirl - I'm really glad that you have admitted that you need help.  The next step is to get some outside professional help.  Please do so especially before you do irreversible damage to your brain and other organs.  To search for counseling and treatment:  http://dasis3.samhsa.gov/

luvmypinesol - Please do get outside help, too.  There are counseling and treatment centers that offer state and/or county funding for those without health insurance.  Please get well and make good, healthy choices.

Okay,

I'm not trying to make light of your PineSol sniffing, but i just couldn't get this out of my head and it cracked me up---

THAT"S THE POWER OF PINESOL, BABY.

lol

That said, what almost concerns me almost more than the inhaling part of this, is the OCD part of it. It sounds to me like more an dmore of every day is being set aside for this. It has to be interfering in you having a normal life. This happened w/me and duster too. I would get so sick from it, but it was like i was compelled to go get more in the morning. It wasn't all about the using, but about the ritual. That was the hardest part for me to break. I suggest changing your routine around, avoid the places that you buy from, just do little things different for awhile. Drive another way home. etc etc.

The manufacturer has informed ACE that  deliberately concentrating and sniffing Pine-Sol is clearly outside of the product's intended use and they certainly recommend stopping this behavior immediately.  While the product may not specifically warn against inhalation abuse of the kind that you are describing, your actions may be causing you to breath concentrations of the ingredients above levels that are known to be safe.

I Really Didn't Think I Was The Only Person Who Is Madly In Love With The Scent Of pine-sol, It Smells So GOOOOOOOD Who Wouldn't Love It. I Sniff It Everyday Constantly And It Just Relaxed Me . I Know Its Bad And All But I Can't Stop!!!My Mom Stopped Buying Pinesol Because She Found It Behind My Bed Once And Realized I Was Sniffing It. Everyone Tells Me To Stop And All But I Don't Listen. My Boyfriend Just Hates That I Do That. His House Has Pine Sol Because His Mom Buys The Big One And Ill Always Go To The Bathroom Just To Smell It. He Caught Me Once Because When He Kissed Me He smelled And Tasted Pinesol On My UpperLip :/ I Feel Horrible. I Also Go To Markets To Cleaning Supplies and sniff pinesol since we don't have it at home I look for It. I Even Tasted It A Couple Of Times, I Need To Know How To Stop.
