I have an addiction with smelling laundry soap, liquid fabric softener, and dryer sheets. Randomly sometimes throughout the day, I'll go to the laundry room and smell each very heavily. When I smell them I make this weird snorting sound. None of the stuff goes up my nose but I breathe it in a lot I guess you could say. I was just wondering if its bad. Its an addiction, and I know it would be hard to stop. I want to stop if I know its bad. Thanks for people who reply!

Dear Chica18,

I encourage you to discuss your concerns with a parent, physician, counselor, or guardian to access the situation. Can anyone else provide any additional insight into Chica18's post?

hi, my mom said its not bad to smell dryer sheets, laundry soap, and liquid fabric softener. She knows I love to sniff it and my friends know I sniff it too. I'm trying to stop and not do it so much but its hard.

Chica18- Thanks for your post.  Though moms some how seem to know everything, in this case the 2 best places to go to inquire if consistently smelling a product is bad is your doctor and the manufacturer of whichever product you are smelling.

There should be a 1-800 number on the back of the product label that you can call.

Sniffing concentrated amounts (not using in a ventilated area, and sniffing directly into the nose) of any product is never a good idea.
