I need help. I caught my boyfriend huffing duster last week and his sister caught him yesterday. We have tried to tell him how dangerous it is and what could happen if he doesn't stop but I'm not sure it's doing any good. He has a history of using different drugs (before we met but he has been clean and he hasn't used anything since we have been together for the past year, except this.) He says that those were the only times he's done it but I don't believe that - what are the chances of getting caught BOTH times you "try" it? I told him that if I catch him doing it again, he has to leave my house. We went to an NA meeting last night (he doesn't believe he needs to be there but I made him go) but I want to know if there are any signs of his using when I'm not around? How can I tell if he's doing it? I kissed him last night and his mouth tasted AWFUL. Was he huffing before I kissed him? And how long does the taste last? (If he was caught yesterday morning but I kissed him last night, would the bitter taste still be there?) I need help to know what to do next. I don't want him to die.

Melam, you're doing a great job of taking the right steps. Apart from NA, inquire about service providers in the area. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has a service provider locator. Put your city in to find the closest support in your area.

There are several signs of use which may include: sporadic nose bleeds, slurred speech, dizzy appearance, nausea, and hullicination. That strange odor on his breathe is also a telltale sign. Check out to read about other symptoms and effects.
